The Six Horse Stable

This project was bigger than the house, literally, and they only had two horses at the time, but as we say ‘dream big’. No job is too big for our horse stable builder in Devon & Corwnall.

Starting with Good Foundations

A lovely husband and wife (with a toddler obsessed with diggers) had applied for, and had approved, planning permission to convert their land to equestrian with the addition of a stable with menage. This 6 horse stable with wash room and secure tack room was designed to have an entrance from the driveway, and exit into the paddock.

Every build needs good foundations. We can plan your build from start to finish and lay the foundations for you. On this occasion our client had their concrete pad laid by another company. We managed to rectify the concrete slab to fit the client’s original dimensions. Apparently not all horse stable builder firms have the same attention to detail we pride ourselves on.

The first task is to lay the ring beam of breeze blocks to create a solid base for the timber frame structure. Hence why it’s so important the original foundations are of an accurate size and level.

The next task is to build the frames for each wall panel and erect them in their places. As you’ll see from the images the windows for the horses are already in situe at this stage.

A helping hand

We’re the first to admit when something is just a little bit bigger than we can lift, honest. We had a helping hand from this JCB to lift the roof trusses into place on the base of the wooden stable walls. Secured in place, the walls and roof have formed the basis of the shape of our 6 horse stable. Now for the cladding to start…

Attention to detail

We genuinely believe it’s the little touches that make you smile. It’s important to us to make sure every thing about your stable build is perfect. We wanted to make this stable special, even the individual stable doors, if left open can be seen from the road with their unique diagonal cladding.

The Finished Stable

After 6 weeks of building with a small team through a heat wave and torrential rain, finally the Six Horse Stable emerged with a rainbow to announce its completion.

The family happily house their two beloved horses, and we have since heard they have been shopping to increase the size of their herd.
